From modest foundations in 1922, the CWA now boasts a rich ‘90 year’ history of achieving outcomes that better the lives of rural and regional communities.
The CWA Honorary Membership will be presented at both a State and local level-recognising those individuals who have made significant contributions and created opportunities for regional and rural Australia.
Branches will select and award an Honorary Membership to a local community member, while the CWA of NSW will name 10 State Honorary Members at the annual CWA Awareness Day on September 12.
The presentation of the awards will take place at a wide range of CWA Awareness Day initiatives and celebrations in more than 400branch locations across NSW.
It’s a commemorative year for the CWA and we are looking forward to recognising those individuals who have made a difference and contributed to our proud history,” CWA of NSW President, Elaine Armstrong said.
“For the first time in CWA history we will award Honorary Memberships and some of the recipients of these honorary memberships will be men.
“Looking back over our 90 years, some very significant changes have been made to government policies, roads, education, health and family living standards that can be attributed to the work of our members.
“The CWA continues to evolve to work in new environments and we are always encouraging new members to join a local branch so that the great work can continue.”
There are currently some 400 branches throughout the State and approximately 10,000members who are all looking and listening for ways to improve the opportunities for women and their families in regional and rural communities.
