The 2014 Australian of the Year Goodes and Maitland's first AFL draft pick Heeney were also visiting local schools as part of the tour.
"I've been going on community camps for over 15 or 16 years now and it's a great opportunity for us to get out into community," Goodes said.
"To go to places like Maitland that I've never been to before and talk all good things AFL, healthy lifestyles and a lot about leadership."
Heeney, 18, was heading back to his old high school St Peter's this afternoon only a few years since being a student.
"Three years ago I was sitting in the library listening to two other [Swans] players, AJ and Birdy," Heeney said.
"And I was thinking wow, imagine if I could do that one day and here I am with Adam Goodes."
The two players, at either end of their respective careers with Goodes a two-time premiership winner and Heeney a rookie, were returning to the state capital for training this evening.
The AFL season kicks off the Easter long weekend after the cricket World Cup final on March 28.
The Swans begin their 2015 campaign against Essendon in Sydney on April 4.
