South East Local Land Services is a premier sponsor of the event, and is encouraging land managers, producers, agronomists and agribusiness specialists to attend.
Senior Land Services Officer Fiona Leech said the conference will feature presentations by producers, scientific experts and agricultural officers on a range of interesting and relevant topics.
“The event will offer participants with an opportunity to network and gain valuable information about current pasture and livestock research and grazing and land management practices that will help to improve productivity and profitability,” Ms Leech said.
Bus tours are also being held as part of the conference program.
On the afternoon of July 15 participants can choose from one of three visits to see examples of successful, innovative farming practices:
* A mixed farming enterprise near Crookwell where award winning landscape rehabilitation work has been undertaken;
* A mixed farming and broadacre cropping enterprise at Lake Bathurst, or
* The Woodlawn Bioreactor near Tarago.
Ms Leech said Luke Pope, South East Local Land Services Pastures Officer will present on managing the production potential of Southern Highlands and Central Tablelands soils.
“NSW Department of Primary Industries researcher Warwick Badgery will provide insights on grazing management options to boost productivity and secure healthy landscapes and livestock technical specialist, Phil Graham will discuss Southern Tablelands sheep breeding directions,” Ms Leech said.
“Two key presenters will be research scientists, Dr Richard Simpson from CSIRO and Dr John Webb-Ware from the University of Melbourne.
Dr Simpson will present new insights into phosphorous cycling in pastures and the implications for fertiliser management.
Dr Webb-Ware will identify opportunities to maximise livestock productivity.”
The full conference package including lunches, morning and afternoon teas and dinner on Wednesday night is $260 for NSW Grassland Society Members and $330 for non-members.
