Kristy Mayhew is Shoalhaven Tourism’s new marketing specialist, bringing more than 12 years of experience working for media organisations including SBS, Time Magazine and most recently, the Griffin Theatre Company.
Shannan Perry Hall will also join the Shoalhaven Tourism team as the events and investment specialist.
Mrs Perry Hall has more than 10 years of experience in tourism, most recently working for Booderee National Park as well as previously working for the South Australian Tourism Commission.
Shoalhaven City Council mayor, Jo Gash, said significant investment in marketing and events expertise was a demonstration of the commitment the council had in developing and nurturing a sustainable tourism industry that will benefit visitors and the local community.
“Our local community and regular visitors know that the Shoalhaven is a great place to visit and call home,” Cr Gash said.
“However, if we are to realise the true potential of tourism and the part it can play in our local economy, then we need to continue to invest in strong promotion of the region.
“The appointment of a marketing specialist and an events and investment specialist to Shoalhaven Tourism will certainly help achieve this goal.
“Latest statistics from the ‘Unspoilt’ digital marketing campaign we participated in with our South Coast neighbours clearly show that promotion of the region can yield significant financial returns for businesses in local tourism.
“We now want to leverage this success and maximise other opportunities to bring visitors here all year around.
“I was very pleased to welcome Kristy to the organisation on Monday and I look forward to having Shannan on board from Monday February 8,” Cr Gash said.
Cr Gash said the new appointments would be a pivotal step in achieving successful tourism outcomes for the Shoalhaven.
