Offered for sale by auction on account of the Norton family, Nancy, Roger and Richard, the 120 acre un-irrigated lucerne farm had been in the family for close to two generations, more recently worked and nurtured by the late Laurie Norton.
In front of a full house with some 15 registered buyers, auctioneer Graeme ‘Chippy’ Boller was kept very busy with strong interest pushing the price up over a million dollars.
Eventually two parties knuckled down to fight it out with prominent Countegany district graziers John & Catherine Braddock “Jibolaro”, the purchasers at an outstanding price of $1.38 million (or $11452 per acre).
The under bidders were a partnership from Royalla/Michelago area.
The auction sale was held at the Cooma Ex-services Club in Vale Street, Cooma.
