The new framework will ensure that NSW has the right settings to attract investment in wind energy, while balancing the needs of the community.
The framework will address delays in the assessment process and is focused on driving better outcomes by encouraging proponents to engage early with the community.
A Department of Planning and Environment spokesperson said they want to encourage as many locals as possible to spend some time looking over the draft framework and provide their feedback.
“The session will explain how the proposed framework will operate, and what this will mean for any future wind energy proposals in your region,” the spokesperson said.
“The community has already been very generous with its input and we encourage them again to have their say on this draft planning framework.
The Department consulted widely to better understand the key issues in developing this framework, including with key environmental groups, industry, other states, the Australian National Wind Farm Commissioner as well as members of the community.
The community drop-in session is being held on August 29 at the Yass Soldiers Club, 6.30-8.30pm. The draft wind energy planning framework is on exhibition until September 16.
The proposed new framework can be viewed and submissions can be made online at planning.nsw.gov.au/Have-Your-Say, or write to DPE/DI&IP, GPO Box 39, Sydney 2001.
