Friday, September 23 was the final day in which the Census could be completed. Head of the 2016 Census Duncan Young said “around 95 per cent” of the nation had completed the Census. Individuals can be fined up to $180 a day for not completing the Census, but the ABS has assured the public this fine is used sparingly.

Mr Young emphasised that the return rate will yield high-quality data. The ABS will analyse the data and plan to release their initial findings on April 17 next year.
