The Plan outlines a Floodplain Risk Management Plan for Council, which includes:
- A proposal for the modification of existing policies to ensure development of flood affected land is compatible with flood hazards and risk;
- A proposal for flood planning levels for the various uses in the floodplain;
- Recommendations for a program of works and measures aimed at reducing the impacts of flooding; and
- Timeframes for the implementation of the proposed works and measures. Upper Lachlan Shire Council General Manager John Bell said Council is seeking community feedback on the Draft Flood Risk Management Plan and Study.
“The Plan sets out how Council will manage flood affected land into the future, so it is essential that we get it right,” Mr Bell said.
“I would encourage all landholders in Crookwell, Gunning, Taralga and Collector to read the Draft Study and Management Plan and provide us with their feedback.
