Clocks will need to turn back time at 3am, meaning an extra hour’s sleep for many New South Wales and ACT residents.

Daylight Saving began on October 2, 2016 when clocks went forward one hour.

It begins each year on the first Sunday in October, and ends on the first Sunday in April. Daylight Saving applies in the warmer months, to increase the number of daylight hours in southern states of Australia.

It is observed in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, and the Australian Capital Territory.
