The 23-month-old bull is the first embryo transfer calf to be born in Australia by US sire SLDK Vendetta V-9 and is out of Melbourne and Sydney Royal grand champion cow Tondara Novelty 96.
The bull was exhibited by Tom and Sophie Holt, Tondara Hereford Stud, Urana, NSW, to senior and grand champion bull, and won the Perpetual Canada Cup for Best Exhibit at the 2015 Sydney Royal.
The win follows Vendetta’s dominance of the interbreed junior beef bull at the 2014 Melbourne Royal.
Tondara Hereford stud also won the Hereford breeders group and the senior and grand champion Poll Hereford female with Kanimbla Miss K H100 and her spring drop heifer calf by Tondara Sage.
The Holt family bought the winning female from the Kanimbla stud two and a half years ago for their young son Thomas to compete at heifer shows.
Sired by Kidman Bligh and out of Kanimbla Miss K D035, the cow was sashed as supreme Poll Hereford exhibit at the 2014 Melbourne Royal.
The win makes Kanimbla Miss K H100 eligible for judging in the 2015 Miss Asia/Africa and Hereford – Miss World in December.
Tondara co-principal Sophie Holt said Vendetta semen had been collected, the bull used naturally over 10 stud cows and would be retained by the stud.
At Sydney, Vendetta weighed 1097kg, scanned with an eye muscle area of 137sqcm, 17mm rib and 12mm rump fat.
Vendetta and Miss K H100 are set to be a drawcard among the Hereford entries at Beef Australia 2015 at Rockhampton in May.
Judging the Hereford classes this year was Chris Knox, Coonabarabran, NSW, and in the Poll Hereford ring, David Bondfield, Dalveen, Qld.
The supreme whiteface champion at the 2015 Canberra Royal, Claystone Gladiola H19, continued her good form to receive the Viscount Hereford perpetual trophy for the grand champion Hereford female at Sydney.
Gladiola was exhibited by Stacey Beggs, Claystone Herefords, Queanbeyan, NSW.
Beggan Hill Herefords, Harden, NSW, exhibited the reserve senior champion Hereford female, Beggan Hill Doreen H059, junior champion female, Beggan Hill Peacher J392, and junior champion bull, Beggan Hill Kingfisher K316.
The reserve junior champion female went to Truro Miss Kesha K002, exhibited by Truro Herefords, Bellata, NSW, and the reserve junior champion bull was Lotus Jonty J60, shown by Lotus Herefords, Glen Innes, NSW.
In the Poll Hereford ring, Tycolah Monarch J135 stormed through the bull classes to take junior, and grand champion, and best exhibit for Steve and Therese Crowley, Tycolah, Barraba, NSW.
The September 2013 drop bull is by the $80,000 Tycolah Jovial F77 and out of Tycolah Asteret A129.
Monarch weighed 862kg and scanned with a 125sqcm eye muscle area, and 11mm on the rump and 9mm on the rib.
Mr Crowley said the bull had been voted the “people’s choice’’ on his debut outing at Barraba show then hit his straps in Sydney.
The bull will be one of four to be offered by Tycolah at the Herefords Australia Dubbo Show and Sale in June.
“It was one of the most even line up of Poll Hereford cattle, including the best junior heifers, I’ve ever seen at Sydney,’’ Mr Crowley said.
Tycolah also won the breeders group class and pair of bulls.
Scott Lintott, Alberton, Qld, exhibited the reserve junior champion bull, MNS Jagger J3, while Patricia Worth, Blayney, NSW, exhibited the senior champion bull, Waratah Jefferson J40.
The reserve went to Grassy Mountain Halfway There, shown by George and Helen Neilson, Canowindra, NSW.
Nolaroo Irish Rose was sashed as junior champion female for exhibitor David Brown, Queanbeyan, NSW.
Reserve went to Tim and Jemma Reid’s JWR Cherry Ripe J006 while reserve champion senior female was Elm Vale Eliza Shamrock 10, exhibited by Mrs Margaret Hughes, Mittagong, NSW.
