Most Senior Rider award went to Andrew Stanton and the award for the youngest and junior rider went to 8 year old Skye Gilpin from Bowral.
Rodeo Club president Neil Hensley gave an account of the club’s successful year.
“ I am pleased to report that the Goulburn Rodeo Club has had another fairly successful year,” Mr Hensley said.
“Our 2014 rideathon was held at the picturesque Marulan property Arthursleigh with just over 100 riders, close to double the previous year.
A very big thanks to Steve Burgin for providing us with such an excellent venue and facilities for our ride, dinner and camping.
Also a big thanks to the old APEX crew, Craig Young and ‘Fitzy’ along with some new recruits for their cooking expertise and also the ladies who dished up a lovely meal on the Saturday night.
We will be distributing the funds raised to our chosen charities soon. We also held our annual charity rodeo in February where once again the weather was against us with a storm band hitting us around 7pm that evening.
This did cause a lot of spectators to leave and this no doubt affected our bar and canteen, but it was pleasing to see the amount of people that did stay.
We attracted over 300 entries on the day which made us the second biggest rodeo in the zone.
Thanks to the planning ability and hard work of previous committees and members, we have some of the best facilities and arena surfaces in the state.
Our new clubhouse is now finished and occupied, and makes a huge difference.
We also now have a toilet on the grounds which is a big start! As you can see, we are a small committee who would not function without the help we get from people like you.”
Coming up on November 21 is the Rodeo Club’s 2015 Charity Rideathon which will again be held at Marulan property Arthursleigh.
All riders must have pre-purchased a card by November 13 to enable them to participate in the ride.
Cards will be available from August 10th by contacting Rideathon Director Craig Young on 0408 026 490.
