Over four days, they will put out more than 10,000 baits across the region in partnership with the Dalton/Broadway Landcare group.
Bob Spiller of Jerrawa Creek Landcare group said Landcare biosecurity officer at Yass, Chris Harris, had been busy with the Dalton/Broadway group last week.
“Thus far we look set to put out 5342 baits across the district,” Mr Spiller said.
“This includes 5033 lamb tongue style baits and 309 chicken ‘wingette’ style baits.”
Mr Spiller said the Feral Fox Fighters campaign, first started by the Jerrawa Creek group, had expanded “beyond all expectations” around the Southern Tablelands.
“The South Eastern Local Land Services Biosecurity Group have been introducing it over the entire region,” he said.
“There are still opportunities to form groups.
All you need [is] six or more neighbours with relatively close properties.
“Dung beetles are great for restoring nutrients to the soil, but guess what?
Those darned foxes, the ultimate adaptors, have developed a taste for the dung beetles.”
