NSW trout season opens this October long weekend

This year’s trout season is set to be huge, with anglers heading off last weekend to the state’s streams. September 30 marked the official opening of the trout season, with the four month’s closure allowing trout to travel upriver to breed. Rivers and streams have benefited from the Department of Primary Industry’s fish stocking program, which has seen approximately 2.9 million rainbow, brown and book trout released across NSW.
