Farmers of the Southern Tablelands and surrounding areas can now take advantage of access to a permanently-based helicopter and aerial agriculture specialist.
Heli Ag Aviation is 100 per cent family-owned and operated, proudly based in Crookwell, and services central and southern NSW.
Owner and chief pilot Jake Bush says “It’s an area I am proud to be a part of, and I truly believe that farmers do benefit from the advantages of applications by helicopter.” He believes the biggest advantage of aerial application is the ability to access even the most hard-to-reach areas of properties, particularly over the hilly areas of the Southern Tablelands and South West Slopes. Additionally, helicopters offer greater accuracy in both flat and hilly terrains.
“The precision of helicopter application is unmatched. It provides faster access to difficult areas in irregular shaped paddocks; it can move easily around crops and obstacles like trees and power lines; the rotors push the surrounding air down which more evenly distributes the materials being delivered.”

Heli Ag also uses its own fuel truck and mixing trailer, meaning that they only require access to water to get the job done. “Time is critical when dealing with weeds and the weather,” Mr Bush said. “So we offer a service that is time efficient and can be done from anywhere on the property.”
LOCAL EXPERTISE
Having grown up on his family’s farm near Crookwell, Mr Bush developed a keen interest in agriculture at an early age. He now combines his skill of flying helicopters with his passion and knowledge of agriculture.
“Flying an agricultural helicopter is not something you just wake up and decide to do one day,” Mr Bush said. “The skills and knowledge needed to operate safely and successfully have been built over 10 years of experience in the industry.”
Mr Bush said it is rewarding to be able to apply his expertise and knowledge of the area to helping local farmers keep on top of their weeds and pests problems.
“I make myself aware of the challenges that farms in the area are facing at any given time of year,” he said of how Heli Ag can help farmers.
“For example, this time of year in Central and Southern NSW, we are focused on controlling Serrated Tussock and Thistle varieties.”
“We pride ourselves on being prompt and reliable,” Mr Bush continued.
“We understand that successful pasture and crop treatment is often time-critical and weather-dependent, and look forward to working with farmers and property owners in the future.”
Heli Ag Aviation is an AAAA member, CASA Approved and Spraysafe Accredited company, providing a permanently-based agricultural helicopter in Crookwell.
