Lamb numbers improved to 14,000. The quality was fair to good, with a few of the new season lambs looking dry in the skin. Shawn lambs were well supplied, with good runs of heavy trade and heavy lambs were limited. The market sold to a dearer trend of $3 to $4/head.

Re-stocking new season lambs $76 to $110/head and feeders paid to $148/head for trade weights. Wooly trades from $133 to $155/head, averaging 660c/kg. Heavy weights to $170/head. Shawn 2 score processing lambs $96 to $115/head. Medium heavy trades $125 to $155/head, to average 680c/kg. Heavy lambs at $156 to $186/head, extra heavies reached $190/head. Hoggets reached $180/head for heavy weights.

11,000 sheep were penned and quality was very mixed, with light sheep well supplied. Prices lifted $5-7/head. Light ewes from $47 to $73/head, the medium weights $88 to $125/head. Heavy XB ewes $115 to $144/head, with carcass prices averaging between 430 and 470c/kg.

Numbers were down for the first sale of the year. Quality was good, with plenty of feeder steers and heifers, although there were few heavy weight yearlings. Heavy trade cattle were also in short supply, along with grown steers. A good run of cows were offered, these suited both Restockers and processors. The market sold to a dearer trend compared to the last sale of 2018.

Light restocking weaner steer sold to 337c and heifers reached 286c/kg. Feeder steers were 9c to 11c dearer on average, with light weights reaching 290c, as medium weights sold from 272c to 292c/kg. Heavy feeder steers made to 266c/kg. Heifers to feed were 1c to 4c dearer, making from 254c to 273c/kg. Heavy trade steers reached 277c and heifers received from 250c to 266c/kg.

The few grown steers sold from 264c to 270c and heavy grown heifers sold to 255c/kg. Most cows were 3c to 4c dearer, with the 2 score cows receiving from 168c to 193c, while heavy 3 and 4 scores sold from 192c to 217c/kg. The prime heavy weights averaged 212c/kg. Restocking cows reached 200c/kg.
