The 51st Goulburn Rodeo will be on February 16.
You’ll see plenty of action with rough riding events such as saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding and steer riding. You can also enjoy the timed rodeo events including steer wrestling, rope and tie, and team roping. Then there’s also the ladies barrel race, steer undecorating, breakaway roping and the junior barrel race.
The slack events start at noon this year, and the main events at 4pm.
Fiona Battiste, treasurer of the Goulburn Rodeo Club who organise the event, told us that the horses for this year are being supplied by Rick Wilson, and the bulls will be from JP Gill and Sons.
For the horses, Fools Gold is 2018 and current SZRA Saddle Bronc horse of the year, and Rain Man is 2018 and current SZRA Bareback horse of the year.
Small Event is fifth generation to the great mare Fatal Attraction who was two times Australian Saddle Bronc horse of the year and SZRA Saddle Bronc horse of the year. “Jason Carlon has attempted to ride Small Event nine times and has bucked off every time,” said Fiona.

“Every Which Way but Loose, a stallion used for Rick’s current breeding program,” will also be there.
One of the bulls will be Akubra High Flyer, a previous holder of the title bucking bull of the year. “Jason O’hearn set an Australian record of 92 points on him at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in 2017.”
Bulls such as Coors Lite, No Limits, Wallaby Bob, Ransom 2, Dark Destroyer and Down Under, all of which have on several occasions taken out the most successful bull pen awards, will also be at the Goulburn Rodeo.
There will also be plenty of other features to enjoy at the event, including the barbecue and bar facilities that are available, vendors with items like country and western clothing, children’s rides, the mechanical bull, plus much more to help you enjoy the afternoon and evening.
Finally, as Fiona pointed out last year, “We could not run a successful rodeo without our sponsors.”
