David Holmgren, a pioneer of permaculture world-wide, will host a multi-media presentation that illustrates his ideas in his latest book, Retrosuburbia.
Retrosuburbia shows how we can all apply permaculture principles to our suburban environments to make sustainable, resilient communities.
The event will also feature a screening of Aussie Street, a multi-media presentation, created by David.
Aussie Street is a permaculture soap opera that takes us back through the decades of our lived history in the streets where the quarter acre hosted the Aussie post war dream, through the decades of rising affluence and additions, aging and infill, sounding a warning and clarion call for direct action on the home front.
It also gives a hopeful vision of the future - the permaculture inspired retrofit and onward to resilient, sustainable communities.
Permaculture takes patterns observed in natural ecosystems and applies these to create a sustainable, resilient ways of living. It is the step beyond the silos of recycling, organic gardening, green energy, and pollution reduction, bringing all these concepts together for practical solutions to how we live.
This World Environment Day be entertained, inspired and challenged by one of Australia's unsung heroes. David's presentation will be followed by a Q&A and a book signing.
Any surplus funds made from this event after expenses, will be donated to the East Nowra Community Garden Kitchen Project.
Bookings are essential. Tickets are available here.
