Numbers eased slightly and the quality was plainer. Yearlings made up the bulk of the young cattle and there were only a few weaners and grown steers. Nearly 460 cows were offered to most of the usual buyers.

Medium weight weaner steers were close to firm, making from 250c to 270c/kg. Heifers sold from 140c to 203c/kg for D and C muscle.
Heavy butcher vealers were dearer, receiving from 285c to 300c/kg for the steers.
The top end of the medium weight feeder steers eased 9c, reaching 308c/kg. Heavy feeder were 30c cheaper, making to 280c/kg.
Feeder heifers were 10c to 15c softer, receiving from 195c to 265c/kg. Heavy trade cattle sold 4c stronger to make from 261c to 273c/kg.
The few grown steers increased 20c to average 278c/kg.
Medium weight 2 score cows were back 6c, making from 120c to 185c/kg. Heavy cows averaged 2c to 4c stronger, receiving from 176c to 216c, averaging 210c, and a pen of Limousin cows reached 225c/kg.

Lamb numbers were slightly stronger and the quality was good, with a nice run of trade weights, a few stores and a much larger run of heavy and extra heavy lambs at Yass on Wednesday.
Merino lamb numbers lifted and most were lighter weights, along with some very neat shorn trades. All the usual buyers were operating in a dearer market.
Restockers paid from $140 to $169 a head for lambs to feed on. The 2 score processing lambs received from $132 to $148 a head. Trade lambs to 24kg were $4 to $8 dearer, making from $154 to $199 a head.
Carcase prices averaged from 780c to 840c/kg. The 24-26kg lambs sold from $190 to $214 a head. Lambs over 26kg made from $211 to a top of $275 or from 750c to 820c/kg cwt on average, gaining $20 a head. Merino lambs made from $143 to $190 a head.
Mutton numbers eased and the quality was good. Merino ewes made up the bulk and prices were dearer.
Medium weight ewes received from $122 to $154 a head. Heavy crossbred ewes sold from $189 to $250, lifting $30 a head. Merino wethers reached $205 and crossbred wethers $258 a head. The better covered sheep averaged from 650c to 680c/kg cwt.
