The school will celebrate 150 years this weekend with a good old-fashioned bush dance.
The Paddy's River Bush Band will have dance-goers jiving throughout the fun-filled night, with plenty of audience interaction on the cards.
Event organiser Charlotte Shields said current and past students, teachers and community members were expected to attend and dance the night away.
"It's a celebration of education in the Highlands and small schools," Ms Shields said.
"Kangaloon has always been a community-oriented school."
Ms Shields said the event was also one of triumph and a celebration of the longevity of the small school.
"About 12 years ago, they [Education Department] really tried to close us down," she said.
"The community rallied together and said 'absolutely not'.
"We really pushed hard because the school has been such a cornerstone of the community.
"At Kangaloon there's the school and a community hall, the school is really such an important part of the community."
Now with 30 children enrolled, the school has almost reached its capacity.
"We can't fit too many kids," she said.
"We've had people who've been part of our community for five generations."
There will be a marquee set up outside the hall with fire drums and plenty of delicious food available.
Alcohol is not permitted at the event.
To continue Kangaloon tradition the Parents and Citizen's Association has requested that families bring nibbles and a dessert plate to share.
A simple dinner will be provided and attendees are asked to BYO drinks.
The community bush dance will be held on Saturday, August 10 at Kangaloon Hall from 5pm.
Tickets are available via the TryBooking website or by calling the school office on 4888 2215.
The cost is $15 for children (5 to 15 years), $25 for adults and $70 for a family (which includes two adults with two children).
