Ag & Earth describe themselves as a trusted, family owned and operated business with over 40 years of experience in the agricultural industry.

"We specialise in agricultural, construction and forestry equipment hire in Bowral, New South Wales. We hire out equipment on a daily, weekly or long-term basis and deliver up and down the east coast of Australia," says Ag & Earth director Gary Dunlop.

Ag & Earth was established in 2014 as an affiliate company of Agriquip Machinery Co. The company came about when Mr Dunlop decided to launch a separate business that specialised in machinery hire.

Over the past five years, "the company has continued to grow and cemented itself as a single source for all your farm, construction and commercial needs with wet and dry hire options," he explains.

Buying heavy equipment can be expensive, especially when you may only need single or seasonal-use.

"In the agricultural industry, you don't use machinery all the time because it's quite a seasonal market. For example, you may find that buying implements for a tractor worth up to $60,000 will end up sitting in the shed for most of the year," he illustrates.

"There are so many implements for different processes on your farm, anything from paddock preparation to sowing, harvesting and haymaking. To have the capital outlay and the expenditure for all of these implements in your shed can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars."

Mr Dunlop points out that hiring instead of buying can be extremely beneficial because there is no immediate capital outlay involved.

Hiring equipment can also help to remove liabilities and servicing costs from balance sheets, and if the hire is for the purpose of generating an income the payments should be tax-deductable.

Ag & Earth's leading range of equipment includes brands such as John Deere, Vigolo, K-Line and Pttinger.
