Numbers lifted and quality was mixed with an increase of cows and light and plain yearlings. There was added competition from restockers for young cattle. Yearlings were well supplied and there was a good variety. Grown steers were limited but there was a good line of heavy bullocks. Cow numbers jumped to around 650 head.

Restockers paid similar prices for stock that was plainer than previous weeks. Steers sold from 240c-313c and heifers made from 195c-240c/kg. Feeder steer eased, selling from 260c-293c/kg. Feeder heifers were firm, making from 252c-280c/kg on the better shapes. Trade steers eased 10c, selling from 274c-293c and heifers were firm making from 278c-283c/kg on the heavy heifers. Prime grown steers sold to a stronger trend from 295c-310c and heavy bullocks reached 305c/kg. Medium weight cows held firm, selling from 190c-232c but heavy cows made from 210c-262c.

Prime Sheep, Lamb

Lamb numbers were steady and quality was plainer with more light and drier lambs coming in. Light lambs were well supplied and trade weights were in reasonable numbers. Heavy lambs were limited. The market sold to a cheaper trend.
New season lambs to restockers and feed were $15 cheaper selling from $72-$140/head. Heavy dry lambs returning to the paddock reached $160/head. Trade lambs 18-22kg made 715c-730c/kg cwt on average. 22-24kg lambs sold from $160-$178/head and heavy and extra heavy lambs were $10-$12 softer, selling from $170-$210/head. Merino lambs sold from $123-$148 and heavy old lambs reached $184/head. Mutton numbers lifted and quality was mixed. Prices were dearer on lighter sheep and firm to $6/head cheaper on heavy weights after smaller lots were sold. Medium weight ewes sold from $104 -$174/head. Heavy crossbreds made from $152-$189/head. Merino ewes reached $170/head.
