People planning to visit NSW national parks during the school holidays are being urged to plan ahead and avoid the most popular times in the middle of the day.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service says all campgrounds in NSW parks - including free sites - now require a booking in order to comply with COVID-19 requirements.
NPWS Greater Sydney director Deon van Rensburg said with good weather expected, popular sites such as Wattamolla, Garie and Audley in Royal National Park and Bobbin Head and West Head in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park would quickly reach capacity.
Parks in popular areas could be closed at short notice to ensure visitor levels dont' exceed safe capacity limits.
Mr van Rensburg urged people to follow updates on the NPWS website and be prepared to change locations.
"With close to 50 parks and reserves in the Greater Sydney region alone, there are plenty of places and lesser known spots for everyone to get out and explore," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He also encouraged visitors to come either early in the morning or later in the afternoon, as most areas peaked between 11am and 2pm.
School holidays in NSW start on Saturday.
